Lent is a time of year when we, as the people of God, deny ourselves and say “no” to our will so that we might draw closer to God. I’ve started this blog for the youth at St. Luke UMC (or really anyone) that wants to seek out some daily reading during this 40 day journey.

My goal is to update daily and to provide readings from the scriptures, the wise voices of Christians that have gone before us, and occasionally mix in some of my own thoughts to add clarity. I may also link to some other things from some other sites that I think are great and will help us on our journey during Lent.

Some of things that are posted may be difficult for some to understand since it’s hard to write for students in grades 6-12 all at the same time. Focus on the scriptures and on what you can understand. Read the other stuff if you can understand it, but don’t cop-out. Lenten disciplines are challenging so challenge yourself.  My hope is that this will be deep enough for even the most mature Christian and simple enough for everyone to get something. Remember if you have questions you can always ask your parents, me, the pastors, or the youth counselors.

Just like our spiritual lives this blog will be a work in progress. It will grow and change throughout the journey as I hope and pray we all will.

May we all grow closer to Christ this season,

– Ben

Thanks Ben! Great work so far, I think this is going to work out well. No problems for me going through the lesson-thingy. Might want to be a little less formal, just for the youth, but that’s just my opinion.
